Post by dave »

Gday all...
Just wondering what everyone uses to feed their natives with ?
I normally use a weak solution for all my trees,of seasol, powerfeed and worm wee!seems to work well with a bit of dynamic lifter pellets on the side!
Thanks !

G,day Dave I have always used, Phostrogen and MiracleGro for Azalea and Camellias. Fortnightly at the makers recommended strength.

Phostrogen I believe is hard to find now, so I recommend Yates fruit and flower it has the same NPK as Phostrogen. I use one, one fortnight and the other the next.

I do not use MiracleGro on Ficus as it is high in Nitrogen, and we want small leaves on Ficus don't we. I hope this helps.

Too much Dynamic Lifter will send the soil Alkaline, our natives prefer an acid to neutral soil. I use both of these products on the proteaceae, that I grow. Adenanthos and Banksia. Phostrogen has 4.5 and MiracleGro has 1.2 so both are low in Phosphate.
Cheers :) Pup

Depends which natives :!:
The range of Aussie plants is huge and some have specific likes/ dislikes while others don't care. Most do not care what fertiliser they get. I believe the proteacea are the more sensitive, especially to phosphorus.

Most of my natives get native osmocote in the mix at potting and get whatever fertiliser I'm using on the other trees during the year.
A few types do not like phosphorus - Banksias and most proteacea can be killed with high levels of phosphorus if they are not used to it so
i'm a bit more careful with what I put on the banksias and adenanthos. They get worm juice that's a bit more dilute and just a few dynamic lifter pellets.
