Just finished thinning and wiring my last two JBP. i have 13 all up and they are time consuming but well worth the effort. Taller one about 650mm , shorter around 500mm

Lovely trees and excellent sharp photography! I notice where you have removed a branch from 'old pine side' and not used cut paste. I can see your deciduous have been sealed, do you not use paste on pines?
What is that lovely little pot in front of the blue maple? pot in pic 'pine styled two'?

I do all branch cutting in Winter and never seal Pines because the sap acts as a sealant. Doing the cut in Winter there is less chance of sap flow/bleeding. I also needle pluck in July but it really depends on your micro climate as to the best time for these actions.

Steven that is a shohin pot by erin pottery. I love there stuff and must have 20 others in my shed of various sizes and glazes etc. (just gotta find pots for larches go amazinally well with them) the right hand side pot is a pot from Pat kennedy and has a red leaf japanese maple in it at present, My fav would be john pitt but i think its hard to get them over here however i did get erin to send direct from the uk so maybe i should talk to john too? With pines i usually dont seal if im pruning in winter which i usually do as Ash mentioned however i would if it was white pine or in summerSteven wrote:Lovely trees and excellent sharp photography!
