Howdy all,
I have a dilemma and am wondering if anyone will be able to point me in the right direction.
I went to the Flora festival on the weekend and saw some great greenhouses which I would love, but they are $$$$$ and I reckon I could make one for a quarter of the price.
The company is http://www.aussieshadehouses.com.au/index.php
Now I've been searching online for a supplier in australia, preferably in NSW but have had no luck.
I've found this site in Australia http://www.wetearth.com.au/PVC-Pipe-Fittings but they are missing some fittings that I will need for my creation.
http://www.greenhousemegastore.com/PVC- ... ucts/1182/ this site has all the bits I need but are in the US and don't deliver to AUS.
So where can I find all these lovely fittings so I can build my greenhouse?????
Any ideas anyone?

Re: Make your own greenhouse
Those are pvc pressure pipe fittings, avaiable at any good plumbing store.
You could also try http://www.abstractplastics.com.au they have these fittings and a range of "cage fittings" that fit PVC pressure pipe as well, that might also be very useful to you.

Re: Make your own greenhouse
Are you wanting a greenhouse as a 'feature' to keep flowers blooming longer, perhaps with enough space for a table a chairs...like the bloke in the jpeg of one of the sites you mentioned? Or are you wanting it to simply aid in propagation? If the latter, then I've found that 1.25 or 2 litre drink bottles with a few holes topside and bottomside do quite well....cut in half, plant, and put the top half back on with gaffer tape....you can't beat the price! OK...that's probably not what you had in mind...so here's maybe a better alternative: I saw a neighbor who had a greenhouse using the shell of a set of monkey bars he either got this off eBay or maybe his kids no longer used it... he simply stretched plastic sheeting over it. If you want to go a bit more upmarket with the same idea, you could do the same by affixing laserlite and perspect.... For me...I'm waiting a year until the kids finally outgrow the cubby house.... will remove the fibro siding and up goes the translucent sheeting.....

Re: Make your own greenhouse
Am wanting more of a shade house for my bonsai during the hotter months. and the possibility of a hot house through the colder months.
There's a choice.....nothing's gained from the path we know.

hi mate,
check out ebay with the search *green house* or *hot house*. I was looking into them and you can pick up a 3.5m long by 2m wide for around $80 and then the postage could be anywhere from $20-$40.
i would presume the framing would be a little stronger than those mini hot houses that hold a small shelf of 3 foot.
getting the plastic sheeting and pvc piping might work out ok but for around $100 if it lasts a couple of years then its good, and you could always by the pvc piping and joints to stregnthen the framework if need be.
