Ginkgo repotting
I repotted my Ginkgo this afternoon and thought I might share the photos. This is its first repot after I slip potted it immediately after buying it almost 2 years ago.
Any comments are welcome.

the surface roots look quite interesting

I will get a tape measure onto it this arvo.
The potting mix is one I buy from Bonsai Artist Tree in Belrose, its the best I have found so far.

Gentlemen,
The dimensions are: 40mm across at the base of the trunk, 190 mm high for the trunk.
Once it has settled, some pruning to length and pinching should bring about some development in the crown.

Hi Andrew,
Nice Gingko. Slow tree to develop but one of the nicest autumn colours around. Love that buttercup yellow!
Keep at it, I am a fan of these trees. Saw some awesome ones in Japan. Old and gnarly.

Very nice
i have a "project" ginko untouched
trunk would be bout the same dimentions at the bottom as yours makes me wanna CHOP it
if i knew there was roots like that under it i wouldnt hesitate.
u have inspired me to drag her forward and re-pot i would have let her go another year or more if i hadn't seen your pic..

Hey Andrew,
Nice Ginkgo, they are one of my favorite traditional bonsai species. I like where this one is heading and will be a nice tree with a decade or so to fill out, beautiful trees but slow to develop, especially in a pot. You say you have had it 2 years It looks like it has grown strongly for you since then. Do you know approximately how old it is or when it was originally started?
I would have removed the root marked with red as it is a long straight root that also crosses over the top of several other roots that better fit with the rest of the nebari. Something for next repotting in another 3yrs or so I would guess, my old one used to be done about every 3-5yrs. I have 2 small cuttings that have just gone in the ground to start there journey.
Look forward to seeing this one progress.

I cant see a picture of the root marked in red, but I am assuming you mean the one heading off to the left. No matter how many times I looked at it I didn't see that problem, now that you have mentioned it, it sticks out like a sore thumb. Thanks.
