bouganvillea bark

Post by BooBoo »

Hi everyone,
I have a sizable bougie stump I'm growing on and have done some radical carving to. Along the bottom most area of the carving where the carved section meets the live tree the bark has lifted and come away. I would say that water has gotten under the bark over time. I don't think it has damaged the tree (although I'm not sure) because what I seem to be left with is very fresh soft new looking bark. Pale in colour not dark or weathered like what was previously there. Does anyone know if I'm on the right track and have nothing to worry about or is my beautiful bougie in peril!
Thanks for any input.
Anthony. Maleny.

Hi Anthony if you have done any cutting or carving you need to seal the exposed area, otherwise it will rot and eventually die. Either wood hardener or some acrylic tree sealer to keep it dry. A pic would be good
