Cptn Cook advice

Hi All,
I picked up this Cptn Cook at a local nursery at its closing down sale a few months ago for just $5....bargain
It was horribly pot bound so I took nearly 70% of the roots before repotting about 10 weeks ago.
It looks like it is starting to bud so I have 2 questions.
When to chop?
Where to chop?
I'd appreciate any advice on this and styling

Hey mate,

I would chop it just before the trunk splits and get a new leader branch going. I wouldnt chop much higher due to aesthetics and the fact that
the trunk is not that thick...but then again I am a beginner myself so maybe someone else can give you a better advice

I chopped the trunk on a couple of my plants about 2 weeks ago and they are growing like crazy now, so I reckon now will be the time to do it,
just make sure you dont water it too much after you do it, since the tree will not need as much water because it doesnt have any leaves.

Hmm interesting plant. What's your plans with this one? Are you keeping it in a pot or eventually move it to the ground then return it to a pot? Or haven't thought that far yet?
Sorry i can't offer any advice as i really don't know yet... hehe still learning my self.

im no expert but my advice would be look for a line that pleases the eye and focus on that!

Make sure it can cope (healthy), Then Chop it back to nothing and make all new growth your choice.

Thanks all and thanks Waltron, that's a great thread from the master himself.
Looks like it's getting the chop in a few weeks when it warms up a bit more, perhaps not as drastic as NS' as I think I can capture some movement above the first fork.

I woud chose a single line to keep and then remove the rest.
Regrow the terminal foliage on the frame you have left
