great work mate, I like what you have done with that little tree! however I personally would have left roughly 1cm excess on that big cut and let it die back naturally for a while before cutting it back at the trunk. in saying that, if you keep the wound well sealed and if you can keep it in good health, hopefully the fact that its quite young and where at the start of our growing season, it may have a good chance of survival! I just wouldn't do any more work to it for while to give it plenty of time to regain it's strength, because it's a substantial cut, its important not to let the trees health deteriorate or to let it's growth weaken! I think a little bit of dynamic lifter would be a good way to give it a little push along and really help the tree regain its vigour! good luck mate i really hope I see this tree in 12 months time
