Digging Azalea

Post by Webos »

Anyone out there had much experience digging Azaleas? I Just dug a massive Japanese Maple with Gerard a few weeks back and it was backbreaking. How are Azaleas to dig? Do they throw their roots down hard or are they usually reasonably easy to dig?

Are you experienced?

A week after I duga backbreaking maple, I dug 4 good sized azaleas, roots went no deeper than 15cm a very easy dig.
Q: Why are we all here?
A: Because we are not all there.

I've never actually dug one but they are known to have shallow fibrous root systems. Shouldn't be difficult. Best to try and get all the garden soil off, especially if its clayey.

G'day, Webbos, Azalea are too easy as stated by Neal they have a fibrous root system, the only time I have had to work hard is with really big old ones. Just be sure to wash off all the garden soil when you pot them.
