transplant

Post by bonsai_Dan »

Hi All

My azalea had a bit of an accident on the weekend :( Wind blew my table over and smashed the pot with the Azalea in it on the ground. I've re potted the Azalea into a bigger pot with bonsai mix so hopefully it won't die on me. But the moss that was surrounding the azalea i don't think is going to make it as I'm not sure really how its suppose to be repotted. I've laid it around the azalea again and watered it well but keeps lifting when i give the azalea water its now turning a bit brown only and the color is starting to fade. Anything i can do to save it?

Cheers
Dan

hi mate,

I wouldnt stress about the moss, generally the only time I would use moss is if I am showing a tree, other than that I dont like the idea of moss as it can harbour pests and also if the moss is surviving happily then the tree I would be concerned is to wet.

if you really want moss I would look around for moss that is sun hardy, you can sometimes find it in grassed areas, that species is better as it doesnt need as much moisture to be happy.

oh right well yeah that makes sense. It was on it when i brought it and the only reason i like it is because it looks good around it. But if its going to harbor pests (which i have just had a battle with) then its gone.

Thanks Jamie 8-)
