Yes the roots are very reminiscent of the hind legs of a dragon; coiled with lots of tension and ready to pounce.dayne wrote:looks real good guys reminds me of a dragon clinging on to the soil for some reason very nice
I could call it "Leaping Dragon",

Re: Overhaul of a 59 year old Mugo Pine.
Hi all,
I did manage to get a moon pot for this tree when I was down in melbourne recently.
The tree is looking like it is starting to come out of dormancy and so far it has not turned a hair at all the work it has had done on it. Other than a small amount of "mechanical or handling damage" to a few needles it looks 100%.
Really looking forward to the spring growth fleshing it out a bit.

Re: Overhaul of a 59 year old Mugo Pine.
Hi all,
just letting you know that my Mugo has come through all its work without a hair out of place.
All the buds have opened nicely, been snapped back and not one branchlet or bud failed despite the huge manhandling it got over quite an extended period.
I am setting up for a photo now.

Re: Overhaul of a 59 year old Mugo Pine.
Looking good Grant. Nice and healthy. I gave spent a while looking at the pic, and have noticed a very defined horizontal line running across the bottom of the foliage and small straight section of trunk. Once I saw it my eye travelled back and forth several times and it was all I could focus on. A little tilt to the left and the foliage brought down on the right would remove that visual effect?
Still envious of the old pines your playing with.

Hi ken, kcpoole wrote:When are you going to repot? Next year?
Ken
I will either repot it in early autumn (here April or late March once the heat has gone but early enough for some root growth before winter) or leav it till about November next year( before the heat of summer starts). The windows for repotting here are a lot narrower than in Sydney.
