My first step would be in the planning for this tree, for example :-
1. Examine the roots closely and see if you can eliminate the larger over exposed root.
I would suggest at the next repot in July you consider tilting the tree much further to the right (Photo 1) until the exposed root shows only 3 cm
of the exposed root. This way you eliminate a major faul and I think you will have a very presentable base (nebari).
2. Place a wedge under the pot until the tree takes up it's correct tilt (as mentioned above) and leave the pot in this position until July 2011.
3. The above will give you the correct perspective for you to continue with your styling...
How does that sound for starters?
I'm hoping someone from Adelaide or Melbourne can take up the styling and leaf pruning from here on.
Psst! I have three of these and have difficulty in getting the growth in the directions I want so let's hope we can both learn from here.
