Acer Sango Kaku Browning?

Post by soda »

Can anyone help as to why this may be happening.

This is a garden tree (not Bonsai) planted about 3 months ago. Four were planted, from which 3 appear to be grafts, this one (the only showing this browning) does no look to be a grafted tree.

Hi Soda, maybe the leaves burnt during that recent hot spell we had, if not then could too much water be the problem ?

Yes maybe burn, as this is when it came about timing wise. But I thought then it would be more widespread across the tree and all 4 trees. And from tips, not centre as shown? The browning is in the lower 3rd of the tree, higher up looks fine and has new (vulnerable?) growth.

I doubt overwater water, but I have been giving them a daily does. They are on a 1m a retaining wall in the epicentre of Melbourne's sandbelt (so very well draining).

Thanks for your reply.

Nos72, I will try to use my probe more on this spot to see. When I first bought the probe it did identify this retaining wall as drier, so I watered more. It could be that this tree is 'wetter' than the other three, due to being more shaded. They all are well mulched as shown, so maybe I've overwatered during the hot spell.
