Casade - styrofoam shell

Post by MelaQuin »

My pryacantha cascade is supremely healthy but day after spring day I was picking off far too many yellow leaves after it had done its winter moult. There's a huge stand of pyracanthas a dog walk away and they are resplendent in shiny green leaves, flowers and fruit - and the roots are completely shaded by the foliage. So I picked up a styrofoam fruit box and cut two corners to make a heat reflection shield for the tall cascade pot. The harvest of yellow leaves dropped off quickly to just a few then none. It has been in the sun with the styrofoam keeping the pot cool and the tree is far happier.

This is the third cascade pot I have used the styrofoam method to buffer the heat and all the trees are happy and growing well as a result.
