A juniper

Well I brought this juniper from a member here and thought I should start on the archive.
I have only seen this one picture, and wont see it till july. Hopefully I can bug Leigh to use his new photo skillz and post a pic or two more.

My first plan is to get it into a training pot (again I'll pester Leigh), then work on finding live veins and start the SiDiao process.

great tree asus im a huge fan of SiDiao fibre carving great natural effect. cant wait to see this tree progress. any more stock trees like this for sale?

Do you have any other pictures to share with us Asus? It's pretty hard to see what you have when the picture is taken from above.

It looks like it has a flush of new growth but the new growth is very pale, might be just the picture though. Hope you didn't pay to much for this one. What type of juniper is it? It also lookes like it has a pot full of roots and is being pushed up and out of the pot. Good luck with this one.

I paid $80 for it, and considering I pay 15.95 here for a one year old cutting, I don't think I did too bad for a 10 year in ground tree.
As for the rest, No idea on roots or top foliage, Ledanta will have to answer that one. Hopefully it will get a few doses of fert and trace elements if the foliage is a little weak.

Is it possibly a "Grey Owl " Juniper?

Buds back OK on wood that can be some years old if it is trimmed back carefully.

Leigh has it, you should stop by and check it out. I dont have the foggiest as to what it could be.

Anyhow it is good material to play with. Lots of branches and foliage, very flexible and almost impossible to break when bending.

Does everyone out think that good nursery stock just grows on trees or something? (ha ha) I think it is good value.

80 bucks is great value for this tree. The foliage is a grey blue colour - dont think it is a grey owl though. The lights i used for the photo might make them a little more lighter than they actually are.

The roots are in good nick. The pot is full - but that is mainly how Ash packed it for transit.

Grant is right - plenty of branches - a good trunk - eventually a nice tree.

if i had the money i would certainly pay 80 bucks for this.

without any relation to size, i reckon within a year you may have a very showable tree
