Some of my Olives

G'day Ozzy

I was inspired by your olive digs and dug's bonsai pages over the last two years. I couldn't belive it untill i tried it, the flat bottom cut. Then one day I came across a patch of ferals right at the end of winter. I followed everything to the book and end up at this point. I should say I'm quite happy with myself but am struggling to find infomation on where to go from here?

Whats your way of doing things from here?
Any suggestions by anyone would be great

Looks like a fine specimen you have there Psymo, but its hard to work out a plan for your olive going by the one picture, probably would have to see it in the flesh to work out some sort of future for it, looks like there could be a number of options, they're pretty amazing though the olives, tough as old boots, real survivors, doesn't seem to matter how much abuse you dish out to them they take it all in their stride

Nice one there Psymo, i reckon it looks like a good informal upright from this angle, the type that kink left and right to the top.

What's the watering and fertilising regime like? I've got a couple that are about a month behind Psymo's in shooting. Should i be feeding those that are just budding/suckering?

The more I work with the Olives, the more I believe they are the Ficus of the Hardwood world. They seem to take all the fertiliser I throw at mine and retaliate by growing faster. I have not stopped ferting for the past 12 months, even tho' the trees haven't appeared to be in growth phase. If they were having a rest a dose of fert just seemed to wake them up and off they went again. Pruning has seemed to be a daily job for most of the period as well. Really great things to work with, those Olives.
