G'day guys.
i went shopping the ither day and found this lil guy, i know it still very small but im hoping it will thicken soon enough.
I i'm not sure which branches to cut and how far.
I'm looking for an informal upright look
Virts would be great.
Give it a good prune, remove one of the bottom branches as they will thicken the trunk too much if you leave them (bar branching) and any other bar branches that arte there.
Then feed feed feed. If wouldn't hurt to slip pot it into a larger growing container.
Cheers Nora
Mummy of three under three, I love having my arms full
I would cut off the main leader just above the lowest bar branches then when you repot lean it left or right and let it grow, this will give it movement and start to give you some taper.
when trying to thicken a young plant it is better to keep as many branches as possible, even bar branches. With the bar branches you need to keep one side trimmed back to half the size of the oppisite. One you get the thickness in the trunk you want then remove it. While the tree is still young i would wire the trunk now to get movement in it. I would also remove it from the pot its in and have a look at the roots and fan them out from the base, a lot easyer to do now than trying to correct later when the tree is older.
