My Christmas Present!! - Pot ID
Hi Everyone,
Just got my Christmas present and am absolutely stoked! It ia a lovely Japanese pot and I am now trying to find out a bit more about where it was made. Have a look and let me know. I also have a question about reading the "chop marks" (is that the correct name?). How does one know which side is up?
Cheers and have a brilliant Christmas if you are celebrating it!

Not yet, but good pots like this don't come up for sale often, so you just gotta take the sting and buy them when you can afford it. Typically around Christmas, when everyone asks wheat I would like for Christmas, I just tell 'em, money for bonsai pots! I see it holding a lovely big strong pine or olive one day.

Hey Dunper,
How do you know that? Through knowledge of the symbols? The left of the image is closest to the long side of the pot.
Cheers

Hi Everyone,
Does anyone have an electronic copy that they would be willing to share of any of the Tokoname Pot catalogues?
Cheers,
Andrew

To me the build and look of the pot, and clay, look japanese.
The script however looks mayan or incan.
Just a thought.

OK people; this from the horse's mouth:
The pot was made about 10 years ago.
The maker name is "Yamakou".

Tokoname Yuyaku Co., Ltd.
Takeyoshi KOJIMA
I guess he'd know!
