Collected pine ID needed

Post by ozzy »

Hi, I collected this pine on the weekend and am wondering what it is?, it has real chunky flaky bark that just comes off real easy if you knock it, the needles are a bluish green colour also.

No idea on ID, Ozzy, but sure looks like a good find! :tu:

Seeing as you are in SA it may be P halipensis(Aleppo pine). They have gone wild over there. Cone is unmistakeable if you can find one.

How many needles in the sheath? 2, 3 or 5.
