Harry Harrington's Bonsai Inspirations

Post by Steven »

Harry Harrington's Bonsai Inspirations.jpg
Just a bit of a sneak peak at Harry's 1st book, Bonsai Inspirations which will be launched worldwide on Boxing Day this year and available for purchase around Australia Day :flag:.
It's going to be 270 pages packed full of articles and the detailed progression series that Harry and http://www.Bonsai4me.com have become famous for.

We will have a couple of signed copies to give away so I am looking for ideas for a fun competition :lost:

Regards,
Steven

My idea for a competition is the equivalent of "Mondegreens"; (which is mis heard song lyrics)

ie the famous Credence Clearwater song "theres a bathroom on the right' rather than "theres a bad moon on the rise".

How many times has some one mis heard a piece of bonsai advice?

ie "dunk your plants once a week" They meant as well as watering regularly you could dunk your trees once a week.

Or the story about finger pinching your bonsai.

Like the Monks, who were copying the Canon laws of the Church. From copies, when it was pointed out that a mistake made, :shake: would not be picked up.

So the Abbot went to get the original :palm: It was then discovered, that the word Celibate had a missing letter, the R, it should have read CelibRate :P :shake: :crybye:

Pup thinks this is good

How about a new bonsai technique that hasnt been said or displayed before. At least everyone will have a chance then. :tu:

What about most active member during a month. Counted on meaningful threads, not just oh hi type messages. Something on those lines.

Good for the site, and good for everyone in inparting their knowledge.

what about the best bonsai saying / slogan / rhyme / poem, something creative with our minds. Anything fun / new exciting etc.

ie: man who cut apex off tree, not use his apex to think.

Stupid I know, but maybe something can slogan the site.

Hilarious i know, i can hear all the laughter now, please no more, stop it

Since this is a book of inspirations, how about a competition for the best photo of a tree in the "wild" or suburbia for inspiration :?: (if this makes sense )

Best Native group. and if possible, a photo of the inspiration.

Ive no chance of winning but am keen to see what those of you who are far more artistic come up with.

OK - how about a Dog's Breakfast Competition. You post a photo of your most ugly or difficult tree, a tree you have that you just can't figure out what to do with :lost: , or a tree with a major fault that you can't get your head around. Judgement is passed on the tree with the most intersting/worst problem, and the person who comes up with the most interesting or creative solution.
