strange root????? on a fig

strange root????? on a fig

Hi all,

Am just wondering what this red shoot is coming from near the base on my fig???? :lost:

it seems to be growing upwards, not sure if it's something i need to worry about, :( am only new to this....

any help appreciated, can't seem to find any ifo anywhere bout what it is, maybe a new root, maybe another trunk :lost:

Looks like an aerial root! This is normal for figs. :imo:

Hi Mick It is an aerial root - depending on the type of fig they can be red or white. Most likely has been encouraged by humidity from a lot of rain. My figs have been pumping them out since before Christmas due to all the rain we have had. If you want to encourage them you can lay some spag moss around the base of the tree to lift humidity.

Hi,

seriously thanks for the help, I obviously just leave it there to do it's thing, will it eventually head south to the soil or keep heading towards the leaves????? :lost:

Mick, my Girls used to ask why I treated their brothers different, as per staying out later, and not staying over.

My answer was boys can cause problems, by staying out late, but it is the girls, that come home with a belly full of arms and legs,from it. :palm:
Then Dad has to get the shotgun out. :tounge:

Bit different today though. :lol: :lol: Pup a very concerned father of two Girls, did not do me any bloody good though. :palm: :shake:
