There is also special treat for those attending, an extra demonstrator ;) will give a short special demo.

The demo is this Monday, come along and say hello.

Kew Masonic Centre
31-33 Strathalbyn Street
East Kew
Demo starts at 8.00 pm

Oooooooooooo i love surprises gezz i wonder who that might be??? BTW The people who are not registered on FB, should do so if they are interested in Bonsai. The best Artists and trees from around the world are posting on FB! It is probably the fastest growing bonsai community and will eventually if not already be the largest in one place. :worship: It has as much merrit as any Forum. :tu:

Gday Antonio!

Sorry to say that I won't be able to attend due to stupid work commitments, but I'm sure your demo/talk will be thought provoking to say the least. Looking at your collection of "broom" images, I can see Walter's influence on your definition of the style. For some time now, debate has raged on what constitutes a broom-style Bonsai form, and I know that Walter is determined to get away from the very rigid definition of 'traditional' broom-style trees.

Thanks, good luck, and please keep us posted!

Fly.

Thanks Fly!!! :tu:

I am sorry I made the FB comment, what was intended to be constructive has become inflamatory.
While unlikely to become a major influence for international artists, Ausbonsai will continue to be a place where we can share local knowlege and promote this great art within Australia.
Ausbonsai is the place to be if you wish to promote or learn about your local clubs, exhibitions, sales, demonstrations, natives and PEOPLE. It is a place where we can communicate with people who we are likely to meet while on our bonsai journey.
Much of this would be inappopriate in an international forum.

Did anyone hear that.......

There will be a quadruple demonstration this Monday at BSV. Lots happening all at once and no time to get bored.
Sally, Antonio and myself will share the stage with someone whom the regulars on Ausbonsai all know.
Hope to see you there.
Q: Why are we all here?
A: Because we are not all there.

:aussie: :aussie: :aussie: Gerard and petra, :lost: i dont recall suggesting that you stop doing what you are doing on AB or any other forum. Nor did i put a gun to any one's head and say you have to join FB. I merely said that if you are interested in bonsai you should join the Bonsai community on FB as well... No reason to mince words and turn it into something it is not... ;)

Hey Antonio,

Will you be posting some of your demo here or elsewhere for those of us who cant make it? I am intrigued by Fly's post, I have read some of Walter's work & think its how we should be viewing our natives, instead of within the rigid structure of the traditional japanese way. My own view leans heavily to Penjing which fits squarely with much of what he has to say about styling in general.

Just a quick point about FB... you dont have to use your real name or details, a good mate of mine is Fred Flintstone & he used all the info from wiki to get it accurate (he is a little weird)... My own can easily be found if you search for Fortytwo Mice, the bonsai & penjing community is huge, LOTS of great potters too. Here we get to see what we are doing locally with similar available material, with FB you can see stuff we only ever dream of or have never even seen or heard of here in Oz, each forum has its place and can be a great asset if approached sensibly.

Hi Sahara,
I am pleased to see that you have decided to come along.
You would expect an evening demonstration at the club to go for an hour, maybe hour and a half. Sometimes special event demonstrations will go for several hours.
Tomorrows demonstration will be very well suited to beginners and intermediates. The three main demonstrations are very different from each other and hopefully this variety will provide something of interest to everyone.
Q: Why are we all here?
A: Because we are not all there.
