Where to go from here...

Post by NaturalSelection »

:gday:
Ive had this one for around 15 months, its on its second frame of wire and a couple months ago i removed a main branch/trunk, changing the whole feel of the tree... i am really happy with it at the moment... (obviously it needs different pot orientation and more-so, a different pot)... but im only thinking about the shape, movement and flow for now . . . I can't help but wonder where this tree would have ended up if i had not found it, (buried deep), in the tropical section of a local nursery (garden center).. AND where it may end up now.....
Has anyone opinions - advice? Thanks.

Hi
Great to see that you have posted so many photos.
I was wondering if you had decided the front.
:imo: I would probably use the last image as I felt that in many of the earlier images the branches were leaning away.

Hey Fiona
Nope i haven't decided on a front yet, because of its shape its difficult!... Its hard to take a picture that shows its depth well.. (hence so many attempts).
Im not sure i agree that the last picture is the best front... although it is a nice picture, allot of the branches are coming towards the viewer (note that that picture is looking up from under the canopy, in some other pics its hard to see but the branches are like arms, yes they are leaning away but they come forward like embracing arms wanting a hug. I may try a 360 GIF of it.... thanks for the comment :)

Nice :-)
I like 4d, 4g, or 4i as the possible preferred view. They all give great movement that is sympathetic with the overall picture, but in one oft hem ( cannot remeber which), there is aw branch heading up to the right that I would remove as well.

so many possibilities :lost:

Ken

ps, Looked again and 4g I woudl remove the second branch on the right. too crowded there

It is already a beautiful little tree, and I like its overall shape. Think of a triangle from the front view, I can see one happening soon.It could do with a little more trunk thickening, but apart from that, nothing is wrong with it, great work and congrats! If you really want to be criticised, then grow it on for a year or two, keeping your lovely design, and it will go from good to great. I especially love the way it looks from above, nicely spread out.
Maybe you can't see what to change because it doesn't really need much change, my thoughts.

Yes, I think the entire canopy from photo 4 should become a solid triangle, it is close now, he has obviously planned it well. Meanwhile he has depth from his aerial view, looking good, but needs a bit more trunk for great.
