Air Layering an old Rosemary bush

Hi All

Sorry to jump in here....

I can't get spaghum (SP?) locally, did get cocconut hair and I was thinking of mixing that with cotton wool for the layer. Opinions?

I've got an Elm air layer pushing roots, that was done with a cut plastic pot with sand, but there's no space for this method on the next air layers I want to do.
Also, the bark on the Elm just above the layer seems to not like being burried under sand, might be a wasted effort afterall.

You copuld try anythig that will saty moist and let the roots grow thru it. Spagnum Moss is good as it will eventually break down and allow the roots to grow freely without having to tease it out and risk breaking the new roots off when you come time to pot.

Maybe Potting Sand and your chopped Coconut hair? Real fine sifted Pine bark?
What else you might have available?
