my cow horn juniper

everyone
i started growing this juni about 2 years ago and i didnt wire it as i wanted to see what shape i could get
and this is what it is like now with regular watering and fert
also i have this cascade juniper which still need a bit of work to it like a different pot for it
but that will come later any opinions more than welcome

Dean, they can be thinned and pinched back a little.

gday mick thats one thing i dont know how to do ( do i use cutters , fingers or do you mean thinning by branch removal )

Pinch the Foliage in one hand to hold it without damage to the foliage or your self , then pinch the tips out witht he other hand, Using a twist is good too.
this will avoid getting Brown off on the ends.
If you want to cut back instead, Slide the snips down the foliage so you cut the stem rather than the leaves

Quicke to do with fingers tho.

Pinch pack the growth to develop closer to the trunk or branches.

The second one I would cut back the foliage on the left as it is moving away from the semi cascade. the movement should be from the trunk base to the tip. With the mass on the left, the eyes go both ways

I am still working on mine now ( pinching) and I would remove foliage and branches now in Sydney
I would not repot or root prune till late winter / early spring tho

thanks ken i just want to bend and trim it up a bit then style until end of winter
