How to revive wrightia religiosa
I've got a wrightia religiosa, which looks light dying, the bigger leaves dropping, tips turned brown, is it too much watering ?

Hello,
What soil is it in now? Does it get full sun? Did you recently fertilize it? Also a picture would help.

WR don't die easily. Keep the soil moist and leave it in partial shade area and it should revive itself. As suggested, a picture should help provide additional information.

I don't think the soil is the real problem but in the long run, you are better off repotting it to use a mixture of (50%)red and (50%)black Indonesian burnt earth. You can also substitute the red IBE with aqua clay (small).gshowman2002 wrote:Hi Mokster, think is normal kind of soil, 4 weeks ago defoliated , should i repot it ?
I have a similar case with my ficus (variegated). Defoliated and left it in the shade for 3 weeks. During the 3 weeks, it started sprouting new leaf so I proceed to move it into full sun and in a matter of days, the leaf started dying with the tips turning brown. But I just left it as it is and after almost 50% of the leaf dropping, it has now stabilized and growing healthy again. If your scenario is similar to my, then it may just be the case.
But if you are staying in a apartment, may be that the plant is just not getting enough sun as well. Also are the leaf dying from top to bottom or are they randomly dying?
Still, it is better for you to post some pics and give us more description of the plants growing environment so that the guys on this forum can help better.
Good luck.

Hi gshowman,
Hmm.. Is the plant getting any sun? If so for how many hours a day?
Also, you might want to remove the browning leaves so that it doesn't add to the plants workload and see if the rest of the leaves stays green. I see some leaf buds coming out at the bottom of the pot so that is encouraging. But your soil looks bad. Might want to think about repotting the plant once it is stable.

It used to get lots of sunlight at the corridor for afternoon sun, thought it will be too hot as it was sicked .I've shifted lower to get 50% afternoon sun now. The soil are those burned soil from nursery.

Re: How to revive wrightia religiosa
The main branch appears dead to me. A scratch test will confirm this. The leaves show sign of iron deficiency. It needs a good feed and good sunlight. Mine is in full sun always. WR are semi deciduous. It is normal if your wr loses all or some leaves in winter months.
I would cut off the dead branch and feed it with some slow release fertiliser and keep it in full sun and remember to water it well.
Cheers.

If it's still greeen, it's alive. You won't need to do anything to revive it. It will shoot up at some stage. What you can also try to "wake" it up is leave it out in sunlight for a couple days with no water, get it to dry but too dry then soak the pot in water for a couple days.
Good luck
