My favourite glaze

Post by mudlarkpottery »

This glaze has a range if colours depending on the clay colour and where in the kiln it is fired. Although there are several colours, the whole effect is still subtle.

Hi Brad, Jezz, I'll have to measure the pot tomorrow. I'll see if I have any more in stock. Ketoi,- gas fired in reduction, cone 9. I have a super plan for a wood-fired kiln which I'll fire with gas to 1100deg C before firing with wood. This kiln will work well as a wood-fired oven too (and more efficient). I love wood-fired pots and they don't have to be shades of brown. Have you seen pics of Dick Lehman's "Dragonfly Eye" pots? Whoops, this is a bonsai site. Sorry, I got carried away. Wood ash sieved over some of the pots(and fired) would look awesome.

That looks like a very nice glaze Penny. The range of colors is amazing but yet they are so subtle. I really like the effect you are getting.

Yes, Brad, but I found another with the same glaze, darker clay and the glaze doesn't reach the bottom of the pot. I'll take a photo tomorrow. It's yours if you want it. I will be making more as soon as an upcoming exhibition is over.
