OK, I'll bite.
You've isolated the two problems, which are in fact the same - there is too much branch bulk to harmonise with the slender and graceful trunk. Although it will take time, could I suggest that you take the branches a long way back, and when ramifying, make sure the branches have some interesting "crankiness". Keep them quite close to the trunk, so the whole profile stays slender.
A fine and graceful tree, and you seem to be listening to it.

Just been updating the Wiki and stumbled across this older thread.
Would love to see an update.
My 2c worth is that I really like the graceful appeal and as Jamie said earlier in the thread the tree provides a convincing age. Not overly old but ageing with class!

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful
