these are a lot stronger growers than I thought, I was under the impression they were a slower grower than this or is yours just a freak?

no idea mate. this tree has just gone berserk with growth. took everything i had to slow it down as the internode length was getting to large. but every time i cut it it just grew faster and stronger so in the end i let it go then gave a light prune at the start of autumn. it seems the more brutal i am with this tree the more it tries to grow. ideally i want to wait until spring to see which buds pop. at the moment each branch has buds that are starting to swell a little as well as a crap load of flowering spurs. if it throws out some growth in the right spots i want to give it a hard chop and try and work on it a little more easily. if it grows liek last spring im in trouble hehe

Looks stunning! :hooray: Have you got any close ups of the trunk. Keen on learning doing something similar :fc:
What month would you consider attempting a carving? And what species?
Look forward to more pictures!! :worship:
