Radiata (2)

Post by daiviet_nguyen »

This group of radiatas was "created" from cuttings well over 10 years ago. If I remember it correctly, then the parent tree was taken from somewhere around Laburnum train station in Victoria. There is a massive radiata who wants to push the flatform out of the way! This parent tree has since been stolen in January 2010.

I never intended to create this group. I read that radiatas can strike from cuttings. So I just stuck cuttings into a pot -- and here it is. They are probably cuttings from 1 to 2 years apart.

In the picture below, they have been without wires for over 18 months. They have been in this pot for around 24 months now.

Pictures taken on 11/07/2011:

The pot is a stamped hand made Korean that I have purchased since my university days.

Nice one, great thing about Radiatas too is they always seem to have a nice root system.

Its interesting - four trunks, but because the middle two are so different in width (view1) and so close together, it works well. Good balance between pot and foliage. I would like to see it again after you wire and shape it next time.
