I some how get the feeling you are into trick questions with these. Giving us a hawthorn twice in a row had me stumped as that was my first guess yet you had me second guesing myself :whistle:
The buds on this one sure look like larch to me but the bark does not seem quite right :?:
First guess is larch, can't think of any other tree that has buds like this? Might go check my Ginko??

Bigger pictures might be less tricky ;)

It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

Any clues? Does it flower? If it does I say it is a Grewia, but that is me pulling names out of a hat again . Haha

Sorry bretts, not trying to be tricky with the hawthorn, I thought the second one would be identified in 10 seconds as it is on loan to the National collection at present.

Cleaning up outside and see that elm buds look similar so Elm I think is my last guess?
It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.
