I have heard the term 'Privets' used quite often on here and I am finally going to ask........... what is a 'privet' exactly, is it a particuliar type of tree or a species?
Privet is the common name of "Ligustrum". there are several different varieties and most are declared weed.

Privet are really tough plants you should have no dramas keeping them alive, pot them in a nice free draining mix and put them in the shade for a few weeks.also wash all the garden soil off the roots. Large scars on privet take a very long time to heal

Another Update... 1st Privet was repotted a couple of weeks ago after having been in a pot for the past year. 2nd privet stayed in the ground until today and was repotted. Both are very healthy and I'm looking forward to big futures for both of them. I'll post photos very soon
