Hi all, I have used a section of Olive stump that would normally be discarded to start a whole new tree, I have cut a section of the root turned it upside down and started a whole new tree, the first pic shows the piece in question and the second shows a rough sketch of its location, so I ended up getting two trees from one.

Hi Ozzy,

Aren't those olives just the best sports? I've heard you can do this, and have thought about it with my offcuts. Only i haven't had a bit with as much interest as that one.

Yeah I tried it once before without success, then when I saw this really interesting bit off root I decided to give it another go, for a long time it would only throw shoots out from the base as illustrated below, most of the stump actually died off, I was going to do a graft with one of the base shoots onto the stump but then finally it threw out a couple of leaders higher up to work with so I got rid off all the other shoots and just kept the one.
