Ficus arial roots in the tropic

I think this tree is from Northern Vietnam, and am not too sure how to classify this ficus: bonsai or something else! But the humid tropic does wonder for its arial roots.

Hi there, I just pinched the pictures :aussie: The Northern Vietnamese are a bit funny, they don't seem to be able to make up their mind on the type of styling they want yet. They grow fused-ficus with massive and weird look roots.

Hi Jerry,

I hope you have been well :) I suppose if they want to keep the roots like that, then they will have to break the top-inner pot up.

There is a good chance that it a cast-cement pot. Which would not be very expensive (even over there) at all.

Best regards.

Some nice fiscus with aerials I saw on a recent holiday in beautiful Bali.

Padma Resort - 2 bonsai and a feature tree.

and a couple of Bonsai inspiring shapes from Nirwana Golf Course

and for those wondering, sadly I did not get across to Bonsai Cafe :shake: traffic would have meant 3+ hours away from the cheese and kisses and esky lids. :palm: Golf was a stretch as it was.

Hi soda,

Sounds like you had a good holiday in Bali :) The trees in the last two pictures, I believe, are frangipani; we have them in Brisbane. There are many types as usual. The dwarf types are being used to a lesser extent as bonsai in South East Asia too. They have beautiful flowers and do last for a while. I have not seen any in Victoria.

I like the fig with the stone carved image of a goddess in front. But I believe this fig is smaller than the one in Brisbane city, around Adelaide Street area. There is a big clump of fig there.

Cheers.
