Mame Rhododendron 'Rubicon'

Post by kcpoole »

I have many little plants on my benches in black plastic pots that have been grown from cuttings and stuff, I am Sort of kinda getting to the point where I want "finished trees" instead of just stock trees growning on for ever.

While at the TSOB Bonsai Summit a few weeks ago, I looked for ages on Penny ( Mudlark Pottery)'s table, and saw a basket of small pots that were just too cute. $10 for 4 pots, so a grabbed a selection to use for those "little projects", (12 of them in fact), or just to have on the shelf 'cos they look good :shifty:

Any way while looking for Comp trees, I spied this tree and decided to make a Mame out of it :-), and pot it up before it gets too hot. I was about 6 inches or so high but will be ages before a decent trunk for Shohin size tree.

Enjoy
Ken

Very nice Ken, it will reward you very quickly. I have one that is Shito size and it flowers every year it has buds on now.

Now we need a moderator to put in the Shohin section.

Thank you for showing Pup

Hi Ken, I like this little one. It is very cute. You have to keep close eyes on it during the summer? How large are the flowers?

Cheers.

Dunno :? I have never seen ti flower

I have all my minis sitting on a tray of fine Diatomite, on bench in the shade of a Gum tree. Hopefully this will keep them sufficiently hydrated thru the day otherwise i will be

Will see how I go this year :fc: as I only have a couple this size.
I have some a little bigger that were OK last year

Hi Ken,

It would hilarious if the flowers are as big as the pot. This can happen... :aussie:

Cheers.
