a few days ago, in a burst of energetic well feeling, I used the mattock to heave out some chinese elms that I grew from seed approx 3 yrs ago, and planted in the ground, Due to my illness etc, I decided to clear them (plus the fact that spraying them repeatedly with roundup only made them thrive) I dug 4 out, one, when i was looking at it, I thought, hmm there is a nice little trunk... didn't have a massive root spread like most of the others either... but by this time I felt pretty sick, so left it on the fire pile... yesterday, I felt better and came across it... and thought, what the heck... (hubby was chasing me to go take it easy..) so I grabbed it, a cup of tea, and a little pot... I massively hacked at the roots, but did leave some feeders etc in close the trunk, but would mainly now classify this a a cutting I guess. I smeared some rooting hormone on the ends of the cuts, and stuck it in the pot (tiny pot) I'll try to take a photo of the end result later... I similarly hacked back the top... no finesse at this stage, but a leader was left showing buds...
any suggestions of how long it will take to declare this a surviver?
