English Elm Re-Pot

I have had this English Elm for about 15 years now and it holds a sentimental place. It was collected on my first "real" dig in Canberra and was alledgedly trimmed by grazing deer!
Anyway, forklore aside it has just been trimmed and re-potted and not much else. Yesterday was time again for the annual re-pot and I had a rush of blood and a re-style was also completed.
It had grown out of the Shohin size, but now is back at about 22cm. A bit more work on the crown and left side branch over the coming months and it might now be finally starting to look OK.
The pot is an old Japanese pot that I still like. The old bark also adds a bit to this tree in my opinion.

Very nice improvement Watto in about 12 months it will show more signs as it grows.
Not haveing English elms, just the run of the mill Chinese, Catlin, Suberosa, and Hokkeido, I am not familiar with the growth habit of the English elm. The ones I have though are powering along at the moment.

Will be taking more cuttings in the coming weeks.

Thanks Pup. Where I live the English Elms are not moving as yet (no leaves) but they are strong growers if given a reasonable amount of fertilizer and sunshine. The leaves are larger than the others and will need a defoliation in early summer to keep them at a reasonable size.
I am starting to take an interest in Shohin now.

I am glad you are taking an interest in the smaller ones, because as you get older, and the limbs weaker you do not have to struggle.

Also when you down size your home, as we have I can still have well over 100 trees.
