Thanks Shinkitai, I enjoyed doing it (not sure who you were though, If you are there today introduce yourself).

What are the rules on taking photos at such shows?

I'm not aware that there are any rules. Maybe the Mods can elaborate on this issue.

Will grab some more pics this afternoon. I didn't get time to take many yesterday, although my lovely wife has taken many photos.
Definitely worth making the trip in to have a look around!

OK here we go with the pics. The judging was done by Andrew Ward from Adelaide, who is an accredited Bonsai tutor with the Australian Association of Bonsai Clubs Ltd.
More to come later tonight. ENJOY.

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Great mojo pics Hackman. I like the awards.
There should be an annual award series to give winning trees substance with style

Re: 2012 Gold Coast-Tweed Bonsai Show 10th & 11th Nov
Thanks for posting, Hack, a very well-presented show.
For me the azaleas at the base of the mountain carried a great story. The first Jun pinggiiii (pingus singular?) was a stunner, and the Juniper saikei worked well. I don't usually go for landscapes - maybe staring at the groups at the NBPCA this morning has bent my little mind.
Thanks again,
Gavin

Thanks Gavin, Are you sure you mean the first Jun pingii (the first pic) or the peoples choice one?

Yep, first pingus. The way the trunk leans back, and then flies out in all directions is very strong, for me. I think I've seen too many trees that all look the same. Gettin' old.
