All my larger figs were collected about 30 years ago. A few smaller ones have been grown from seed. Most of the smaller figs in the forrest are from seed with the smaller tree in the front , on the right ,being a fusion of 4 or 5 seedlings. All the collected figs come from sandstone cliffs aroung me area. I have posted some old pics of one of my collecting trips all those years ago. I think it was under the heading of ,oh to be young again. If I can I will post a link to it so you can see the measures we went to to collect some of these trees.

Superb figs. I know you said it takes a lot of time to care for them - but I am sure you wouldn't begrudge a minute of it working on such quality and sentimental trees. Thankyou again for posting. regards Ash

Hi Bonsaiboy50 , bloody nice figs .Now Aussie's a big place so "where the bloody hell are ya" , i take it you don't get frosts up your way or you would need a crew to move these monsters in under shelter .

Cheers Alpineart

We do get frost here but usually not enough to effect the figs. I would need a forklift to move the bigger trees so they are at the mercy of the weather. They have been through many storms and hail over the years but so for no major damage :fc: :fc: :fc:

great figs--the cost of those sized pots puts me off collecting larger plants--where do you get those large pots ---and for what sort of money

The largest pots cost me $200 . Not the ideal pots for the trees but the best I could find for the money. I found them at a pot place in Coffs Harbour. Most of the larger pots he had were warped so I asked the owner of the shop to unstack tthem so i could find one that was ok. The pots are very heavy and by the time we unstacked quite a few he was getting quite cranky :x :x :x

Thanks fatming, glad you like my trees. There is over 30 years of patience in most of my figs. Many spent 20 of those years in tubs or grow boxes. I rarely put a tree in a bonsai pot till i think it is almost complete ( not that i ever think my trees are complete, always a work in progress)
