Red Bougainvillea - Which Pot

Hi Ken

I know it's a bit late, but if you don't mind another 2 cents worth. Considering a change for next time and to mix it up a little. The flared rim design in an oval shape with the cream colour would suit what the future design may be. I like the contrast of the cream pot and I think was a good choice for this year.

If I may throw in another suggestion The strong angles of the trunck are very nice, but create a little imbalance in the tree as it looke like it is going too far right. I know the roots are strong at the angle it is at, but consider looking at rotating the tree 180 degrees but at the same angle to the pot.. (Does that make sense) ie so the first main bend is on the lower right and the following section of trunck moves upward instead of downward. Wish I new how to do virts. It is on my to do list.

I don't like any of the pots, most especially the brown one. I like the angle of the tree in the top photo but I think the current pot selection has been done with the tree at its current state of development rather than imagining how it will fill out in a year or two years time. With that as a major consideration the only pot that you have selected that would work is the cream but I don't like it with the tree. I would prefer a 'heavier' colour to give visual stability as the tree develops. I find the cream pot demands its own attention instead of highlighting the tree. Mind you, it is hard to highlight a tree that has minimal development. Also, I think I would prefer a rectangular pot to highlight the sharp angles of the tree rather than the softness of the oval cream that contradicts the angles. I would be looking for a midnight blue or deep green and with more depth than the cream pot. The bright blues, particularly in the larger size you will soon need, demand too much attention to themselves rather than serving as a 'frame' for the tree.

I cannot explain it. But the first pot captures my imagination. The others pale by comparison. I like
the first one best -- I do realise that technically this is wrong. But that's just how I feel.

Melaquin - Thank, I agree that it will look very different with more development. Many different ideas are coming out here which is great. I just have to take note
Ray thanks for the Virt. I did not think to do one myself and in that the blue I do like. As mel suggested a darker blue woudl be good.
