Great base, strong trunk, complex shapes in the branches (not just straight) and breaking the foliage up into smaller groups works very well. It's a good study in how to construct a tree so that all the curves are harmonious. I'd like to see it in leaf - I may be a curmudgeon, but for me, figs aren't deciduous.

Thanks for posting.

Both pots on the Calli and Ficus are all time..
Love em!
One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

I'm all good, I think, Ant!....Anyway the tree has plenty of emotion, breaks plenty of standard "Bonsai Guidelines", eg Figs shouldn't be carved, should be shown in leaf because it's not deciduous, doesn't conform to normal fig pattern, has busy nebari and thinner branches lower down etc, but it just cranks because it pushes boundaries and it really works. Don't get me wrong , I love seeing naturally styled trees , but sometimes the more unusual really jumps out, even more so with the tree varieties we are used to seeing.(There, be two pennies worth! :2c: ) 8-) ....Dog.

I don't love every aspect of it, but this is definitely a fantastic tree. It has a lot going for it :imo: . Thanks for sharing!
