The signature on the root pruners I got from there is different to the one on my Kaneshin tools.
I haven't actually looked at the signature but they came in a yellow Kaneshin pouch which I still keep them in.....

I was cutting 6mm aluminum with them yesterday and they went through it like warm butter.

The Kaneshin signature is coloured in gold and the tools come in a white box with a green lid. Unless they have two different package types. I'll take a photo and upload it on Monday.

That's interesting, I ordered mine from Kaneshin and they came in a box and have the gold signature.

Looking at the Kaneshin website the 511 don't have the gold inlaid into the signature, but they do have the box. I wonder why the difference in packaging. Maybe if you buy in bulk they use the plastic packaging. :lost:
Wire cutter Large (KANESHIN) " Length 200mm / Weight 260g" No.511

Here are the pictures on mine. From left to right they are Kikuwa, Kaneshin and the one I'm unsure about.

Have I taken this thread too far off topic?

Yeah must be a bulk thing? Scratching my head too.... They were the last pair at Bonsai South so they might have been old stock.

going further off topic, I just purchased 4 Kikuwa pieces from Bonsai Environment. most of their Kikuwa tools are discounted at the moment, and if you're a new customer (like me) you get an extra 10% off. So i ended up paying $225 for the 4 tools with freight, which would usually be $313.

in comparison, the same tools from Kaneshin's website would be approx. $285 without freight (based on the current exchange rate, so the actual currency conversion would probably be more)

And like Rory said - supporting the local guys!

Getting back to the original topic of service and tool quality... i'll report back in a few days
