otherwise just work over it once a week, the wiring is there to help with you get shape you want in leaders branching etc, as you have stated the oak has extremely hard wood and wont like it later


pinching back is fine but as you have said it is creating side branching. do you want or need this yet???
from what i can see you want a leader for trunk line so you can cut back later to creat the taper. and you want to choose main branching.
for now i wouldnt stress bout the internodes because like i said it is a growth stage more than a definition stage.
its good that with pinching you are getting side shoots, this means you will get ramification fast
