I have noticed some of the CREATE entries don't have all of the necessary info, such as where the stock came from. You must include all of the info needed to have your entry qualify. If you are unable to edit your posts please contact one of the mods by PM and ask them to do it for you.
Regards Tony

Re: AusBonsai Shohin Progression Competition 2016-2017
ONLY ONE WEEK LEFT TO GET YOUR ENTRIES IN.
If you want to continue with your tree simply post 2 current pictures and the current height of stock (from top of pot to tip of tree).
If you have something to enter in the CREATE category, you must start a "new topic" in the Shohin Styling Competition forum and make the "title" your name and the species of your stock, in this format, e.g.- [Your Username] Species name.
Your first post must contain the following;
• At least 2 photos of your chosen stock before any work commences.
• Species name (any species is allowed)
• Original height of stock (from top of pot to tip of tree)
• Where you obtained it from
• Cost of stock
Regards,
Steven

I picked up several candidates in the local flower power for $12 but will grow them on a little first as I have better options on hand.
You might just have to create your own stock for future comps.

Nurseries? In our area KC, we have 2 big green sheds within 16 km of each other. All the nurseries that were once open, have since closed...kcpoole wrote:Bummer, Nothing available in nurseries or collectable?Raymond wrote:Not looking good at this stage... Waterloo nursery is only open on the weekends. Not a great nursery for bonsai stock, mostly palms and pots, big pots...Raymond wrote:Nurseries? Ahh now that is a bummer. The BGS occasionally has good finds and for shohin trees they can be good.placeRaymond wrote:Waterloo nursery is only open on the weekends. I just scraped in!
I umm'd and ahh'd about even joining as I'm no threat but it will be a great incentive to fast track my learning and challenge myself.
Plus I own very few shohin, I am generally drawn to larger bonsai but am quickly gaining appreciation for them!
