They look great last a very long time an can be made to any size you want, my sisters hubby has had 2 olives in ones he made about 10yrs old they are now an the grow boxes doing fine.
I dont line them but do put a layer of gravel on the bottom

Hey OC,
Im new to the forum and love Olive also. very inspired by your big tree here.
Only just today I came across some recently cut down olives by the local council in Tea Tree Gully and
ended up grabing a stump 600mm wide at the base and about 1 metre tall.(didn't even have to dig, just walked up to it and threw it in the boot!!!)
its been chain-sawed right at the ground level and still green. should I put this stump in coarse sand and let it root? what process did you use to develop roots at the base of the stump. any help would be greatly appreciated. I should start my own thread with pics for ya to see.
Would love an update on this tree too!

Good development, but it might be time to get it into a real bonsai pot?

.... and tie a rope-swing on it to let the kids enjoy a play ... it’s huge!
Wow! A fine specimen. I am sure it will look amazing when in a pot and you crane it onto a display shelf.
.... back to my twigs .... sigh. [PENSIVE FACE]
Bonsai teaches me patience.

Getting the olive into the larger pot has done the trick. It looked like it was struggling there for awhile in the styro box.
