Re: Total re-do..large Honeysuckle, Lonicera Fragrantissima
Pic three undoubtedly!
I think the pot seems a lot more balanced this time around. But only just haha
Good work! Love to see an under over of the branches and ramification!
Cheers,
Mo

There are many ways to do things, but only one "best" way.

Hey mate, great meeting you last weekend when I was up your neck of the woods for my bday weekend with the girlfriend! Looking forward to developing those two little olives I took off your hands!
The third pic is my favourite front, I like how it accentuates the slanting of the trunk line!
The first picture is unreal too, the deadwood at the bottom reminds me of some kind of dragon claw rising out of the soil
Good luck with the back branch!
Chris

Yep, most definitely the third pic. It shows the base and the balance between live and dead in the most powerful and balanced way. Fantastic work.

Dayam that's a nice base bodhi.. think I've peeled some bark by over looking up and down this tree too many times
Great work mate what's it's history?
Glad most people see 3 as the best view for this great piece

Bodhi, great series on an outstanding tree. Re the front for what it's worth I prefer pic 3 as it shows the trunk line more clearly. Beautiful tree

"Maybe" front has a much smoother transition between the monster trunk and the relatively thin new growth. Also the base is extremely impressive at that angle. Just my 2c. Damn fine beast, ageing better than either of us...

Maybe ftw......
You have your very own style Bodhi.
I'd find it hard to explain but it's very evident to me.
Keep up the good work!

Thank you all for your choices and it helps me out no end. The obvious goal is to be able to view the tree from any front and be impressed, but we all know how difficult that is. Our goal should always be to develop our Bonsai for ourselves but also to put Australia on the world stage. Another few years of ramification for this guy and who knows.Boics wrote:Maybe ftw......

Re: Total re-do..large Honeysuckle, Lonicera Fragrantissima
This is starting to turn into a long winded thread so i will keep it short. The tree has grown furiously over Summer a i fed it heavily and it is now defoliated and rewired. I am scratching my head as to whether i need the back branch anymore
I will keep it for now and see where it goes. Thoughts people, go or stay

Stay. It just needs the same downward movement as the foreground branches.

Stay, you need something below the "neck" to break it up.

Stay. From a quick glance that looks like the "maybe" front?
