Casuarina air layering?

Post by Hornet »

I have a nice Gymnostoma australianum i'd like to air layer instead of just discarding most of the tree with a trunk chop. Being closely related to casuarina's i'd assume they would air layer in a similar way. Any tips for air layering casuarina?

When I did my Casuarina I used a 100mm pot with 50% fine gravel 50% coco peat, ring barked the tree and painted hormone past on the cut and waited about 4 months and had beautiful roots.

The small tree is powering away now.
