Hi all,
I have posted this pine to get some further advice.
I have not labelled the pine a particular variety as one of my first posts on ausbonsai was a question on what variety this pine actually was. The result of that is I am still not sure. There was evidence to suppoert many of the guesses from other ausbosaists. Anyway doesnt matter at this stage. My question now is the vigour of this tree has not been the same since about 2 years ago when I cut the new spring needles back to 2mm from there growth point. The candles that have formed since then have never been any bigger than a matchstick head. My questions are. Should this be something I should worry about? Is there a way other than a regular feeding programnthat can help get this tree back on the path of vigour? Should I hold off on feeding to harden up the growth ( which is particuarly soft and wimpy).
Cheers
Squizz

Re: Pine
I am not a pine expert, but have a couple tho.
Maybe Alpine can identify this one for you.
Check out our wiki page on Black pines for some info on them, and there are a few threads linked on that page of good pine threads on the site

without knowing what yours actually is, if you treated it like a black then you will not be far off the mark

Re: Pine
Alpine has already called this tree for a likely European black pine. I think there us only one are way to get the I D. I will just have to pop down to spooned place and take the pine with me.

Re: Pine
mate,
the thing with pine is to be steady. some hammer them hard, which has been my prob with pine. it works for some, not for me. give this one some time. feed it well as per usual and since the tree is still in development dont worry about needle length.
if you can get to someone that has good experience with pine get there
