Another english elm, a hollow trunk whch I have tried to lay flat in the past. All the growth was at one end and it failed to inspire me so was left in the back corner of the yard for a few years.
The hollow trunk has continued to rot away and last year I decided to lift the trunk away from horizontal, instead of having a fallen trunk I have a trunk which has rotted and fallen slightly.

Looks great Gerard has heaps of character trees like that are special because you cant create a hollow trunk if yo tried

Thanks Mick,
I have used wood hardener in the hope that I will be able to preserve most of the hollow trunk, it is in danger of disintegrating will be interesting either way.

Looks like an old and gnarly stump
going to be real nice once you get some age and ramification into the top and branches

Gerard,

Is that the "right" pot for that tree? Love the tree, but not so sure about the pot. I think it will look a lot better in a more "rustic" pot.
