ive had this chinese elm for a few years , its been trunk chopped and regrown , it has never had any wire just clip and grow,
it was cut back hard this year and defoliated in november. this is it today.

i will defoliate again this coming weekend and clean up any unwanted branches.
it will be layered above the big root next year, and then root work will begin.

This tree soooo puts me in mind of one of Colin Lewis's elms fron his "Art of Bonsai Design" book.

Very nicely done. I, too, look forward to its Winter look,
