Hi all
is it to late in the year to air layer a crape myrtle, i just bought one that was going fairly cheap and i want to shorten it but don't want to just throw away the top part.

I've been playing around with a couple of crepe myrtles. I don't think it's too late to air layer. They should be coming into flower now though. Anyone else got some thoughts on this topic?

Hi all
Thanks for that advice mate do appreciate you getting back to me , should i cut off the flowers if they come out when i've air layered it. Have you found them easy to train?

I have layers CM and they do not take long.
They take to wire well but get it on early before the branches lignify as they are very brittle after.
Back bud on old wood easily too

I agree with KC Poole that cm get very brittle so do wire early. They air layer really well. Good luck!
